Mystery Reader!

We enjoyed having Mr. D (our PhyEd Teacher) come in this week as our Mystery Reader.

Reading:

We continue to review many of the letters and sounds as well as learning about the blends. We have enjoyed several good books this week: Mrs. McNosh Hangs Up Her Wash, Spring is Here, 3 Billy Goats Gruff, and The Tortoise and the Hare.

Be sure to keep reading to and with your child everyday!!

 Math:

Learning to represent and write the numbers through 30 has been a challenge for some of us. As we learn the numbers 11-20 we learn that these numbers mean 10 and ___ more.  We have been using 10 frames with counters to reinforce this idea. We are also practicing putting the numbers in the correct order.

 Religion:

Our focus has been on how we show our love for God.  It is in everything we do
for others and for ourselves.  Since it is now May, Mary's month, we will be celebrating by saying a decade of the rosary each day with the 1st and 2nd graders. We attended the May Crowning recently.
The children were very attentive and did a wonderful job!

 Social Studies/Science:

We began our last unit by observing and learning about goldfish. We have all learned some
new vocabulary words regarding the fish. Since the fish are quite small, we are using magnifying glasses to help us see their fins, gills, etc. We will add water snails to the bowl to observe how they act in the water, what their purpose is, etc.
